We are representing Sascha aka @rawgtb. Sascha always has nice, clean contents with enchanting background. He is enthusiastic in connecting with other denimheads worldwide, and considers this to be the sweetest part of Social Media! He enjoys sharing lovely time with his photographer wife to shoot :) Now, onto his story to discover how social media plays a role in what he does. Can you tell us about yourself? My name is Sascha, I’m 47 years old and I live near Frankfurt am Main in Germany with my family. Two girls and my lovely woman. Most of the pics are taken by my wife. She’s a hobby photographer and so it’s quite perfect to spend time together. On weekends, we combine shootings with a short walk outside or a city trip.
I love taking pics with nice backgrounds. Since I’ve started posting on Instagram, I pay a lot more attention to locations when I’m walking around. My second passion is triathlon sports. It‘s another compensation for work to me.
How did you start your Instagram?Inspired by The Heritage Post, I bought my first pair of raw denim jeans in December 2016. It was the 10th anniversary Momotaro jeans with battle stripes. That’s why I decided to take the name rawgtb for Instagram. ‘GTB’ is for ‘Going To Battle.’ Through Instagram, I’ve further discovered the raw denim philosophy and the outstanding craftsmanship.
I started my Instagram feed in January 2018. I saw all the amazing pics with denim, boots and workwear. I was so excited that I wanted to try it myself.
What does social media mean to you?Primarily it is a possibility to talk with denimheads all over the world. I have gotten to know so many fantastic people in about only two years, it’s incredible. It’s definitely a lot of fun. I hope to meet more of my Instagram friends in real life in the future.
Very cool events was the Denim Hang in Cologne and the New Heritage Festival in Düsseldorf. I met so many great people and found some new friends. Next year I will visit The Denimdays in Amsterdam.
Any interesting encounters/stories through social media?Yes, indeed. I remember the day Roland alias @rugged_man_clothing from Switzerland paid me a visit as he visited his parents in Germany. It was an amazing denimtalk and we had so much fun.
Above that there is my last holiday in Mallorca, Spain. I met the founders of @jwjbrand. JWJ is a small denim brand based on the island of Mallorca. Founded by José Luis Vives and his uncle José Vives. Rarely met such nice people. What accounts/hashtags do you like to check out?Any recommendation?First of all there‘s my Hashtag #redwingvirus. And I like all Hashtags with a connection to Japanese clothing. Furthermore there are so many fantastic accounts. For example @calgeary, @johanmalik80, @boot_addict, @shibooee, @ruggedworkwear to name just a few. I love to discover new accounts and being inspired by other denimheads.
What feelings do you have for "Made in Japan" jeans/fashion products? It all began with my first raw denim from momotaro. So it is no surprise that I‘m a big fan of Japanese stuff. I’m excited by their passion and attention to details. It‘s a big dream of mine to go to Japan one day.
