Jeffry aka @thehaguedenim is a true outdoor man that loves to bring his denim along with his adventures. Ever since starting, His Instagram feed has blossomed into an awesome denim feed, when it started as a place to see tips from fellow denim heads. His Instagram feed features many awesome shots of his outdoor adventures and family, so go check it out! Now onto his story!
About myselfWell hello. My name is Jeffry and live with my wife and three kids (number 4 is on her way!) in The Hague, Holland. I recently graduated with a master’s degree in nurse practitioning and finally have some spare time again. We’re real outdoor people and love to hike and wander off. Gardening, besides denim, is a hobby with our own allotment here in The Hague. With the misses I love to go to @hoenderenhop, @vicenzos070 and @paard_denhaag for some drinks, food and music.
How did you start Instagram?I’m an early adapter when it comes to social media or tech goodies, so my personal IG account started years ago. I never thought that I’ll end up running a denim orientated feed. My instagram account is relatively new. With my first dry denim, a benzak BDD-006 special #1 low tension 14oz bought at @barettajeans, @thehaguedenim was born.
Mainly to read and see tips and tricks from other denim heads. With the start of the benzak contest it began to grow a lot more. At the end of the day it’s all about fun. I work full time in mental health care for homeless people, IG is a hobby!
What does social media/Instagram mean to you?For me IG is an ideal platform to share and connect with other enthusiasts easily. You can see how others are doing but just as easily you can DM for more info. It’s all about fun and connections for me. I also like the idea that people from all over the world connect and zoom in on their favorite subject. Most of us like fashion and denim but you can find in any subject a subculture. Instagram makes it easier to be part of that community for me compared to Facebook. Here there are no groups or rules to be followed. You can create your own content, follow the ones you love and get inspired by without any difficulty.
Any interesting encounters through social media?Too many to mention I guess. There are some I would like to mention though. The guys at @barettajeans sold me my first raw denim last year. After a meet up with @edwin028 the denim spark really ignited. He runs @dutchdenimrepair and fixed my benzak denim. It was awesome! When you say fashion and The Hague, you say @funkie_house. Love to keep in touch with their owner Wilco, for the best in shirts and jackets.
Inspiring feeds and the people behind it are for me, feeds like @sel.vage, @robindenim, @koenkuik, @sennah0j, @boothunter and @nico.mantzke. I can get really motivated to see the content they create and what pieces they wear. In time, I had the chance to get to know @rakeshnejal, @hellequino, @myself_and_denim and @denim_collective. All great denim minded feeds and awesome blokes.
